Poem The Compass On The Square
                                                                           Author: Tom Lyle

You meet them every day. From broom to crown I sing
they are not hard to find. of those who strive to bear,
They search for every way (in heart as well as ring),
to make the rough refined. the compass on the square.

Their sacrifice in red My moon reflects their sun,
is known to Liberty but not enough to grow,
as those who dare to tread or harvest by the ton,
that road which makes man free. the seed I need to sow.

From broom to crown I sing That shoots of love may start,
of those who strive to bear, I seek the Greater Light,
(in heart as well as ring) and call upon my heart
the compass on the square. to rise and glow sun bright.

Their wise have always taught O let my heart strive-on
that kindness is a seed and gather in the ways,
which roots itself in thought to serve my crop of dawn,
and blossoms in the deed. with joy from Beauty's rays.

This garden Earth will green, From broom to crown I sing
(the deserts made by mind), of those who strive to bear,
when man fills every scene (in heart as well as ring),
with care for every kind. the compass on the square
